Sodre (official service of diffusion, performances and shows) is the Uruguayan institute under the Ministry of Education and Culture dedicated to the creation, formation, production, preservation, diffusion of services and goods of the performing and musical arts through its stable casts, auditoriums and academic programs. The contemporary dance area of Sodre’s artistic training schools is a tertiary education focused on the theoretical and practical study of contemporary dance, its technical-creative realization, its development and environment. Its main purpose is to contribute to the dissemination, promotion and preservation of identity and intangible cultural heritage, as living processes, and to contribute to critical reflection on the place of art and culture in contemporary societies.
