Laura Ferro
Argentina, 1985
As an interdisciplinary artist, Laura uses photography, installation, video and writing, which, together with the research of photographic, archaeological and epistolary archives, make up the body of her work. Her inherited family history, training as a psychologist and the territory as a limit, are some of the elements to understand her practice and processes. In 2018, she published her first photographic essay book: Lo salvaje apareció en mis sueños. In 2019, she obtained a grant from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Argentina for a photographic research project: Time is a landscape. She was selected as a finalist in Fotógrafas Latinoamericanas to exhibit her work in Paris in the group exhibition Le monde vu par les femmes d’ Amérique Latine.
About the work
SI LA NOMBRO, LA PIERDO
Photo printed on frontlight tarpaulin
About the territory, the feminine and what cannot be named. The image in this photo aims to act as a trigger of consciousness. The human being is part of the earth. We are part of a whole that is interconnected even though many times we act as we are not. The purpose is to generate perspective in relation to the network of which we are part. The encounter with Alicia, the woman portrayed in Chubut, Patagonia, is the encounter with freedom, that which is outside the tangible world and the established order, outside the productive, and what has a purpose.
